Explore Kenton’s rich history of invention, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship on this self-guided tour highlighting the businesses and visionaries that helped shape the community’s economic legacy. Stops include historic manufacturing sites, former industrial innovators, and locally rooted enterprises—from early carriage and railcar production to signage, hardware, motorcycles, and specialty fabrication. Featured locations include the former sites or stories of Kenton Hardware Co. & Kenton Toys, Champion Iron Fence, Baartol Flagpole Company (est. 1931), Scioto Signs, the Kenton Carriage Company/Kaiser Buggy Company location (Kenton Times Building site), International Car Company (caboose manufacturer), Kenton Marble & Granite Co., Lake Idlewild Park along State Route 68, and more. This route showcases how small-town ingenuity powered industry, supported jobs, and built a lasting legacy of innovation in Hardin County.
