This program offers direct financial incentives to eligible Ohio employers of any size in ten critical sectors who successfully attract and relocate out-of-state professionals into key STEM and technical occupations.


Key Incentive Details

The JobsOhio Relocation Incentive is designed to be a flexible and impactful tool for talent acquisition:

  • Incentive Amount: Eligible employers can receive $15,000 for each qualifying new hire who relocates from out-of-state and establishes permanent residency in Ohio.
  • Maximum Funding: Companies can receive up to $225,000 in total incentive payments, which covers up to 15 qualifying hires.
  • Flexible Use of Funds: The incentive funds are paid directly to the company with no restrictions on their use. Employers can apply the funds to:
  • Enhance relocation benefits and packages for new hires (e.g., temporary housing, moving allowances).
  • Offer competitive signing bonuses.
  • Fund out-of-state recruitment and marketing campaigns.
  • Targeted Growth: The program focuses on bringing in new talent by providing incentives for hires that exceed a company's established baseline of out-of-state relocations over the prior three calendar years.

Is Your Business Eligible?

To qualify for the JobsOhio Relocation Incentive, Ohio employers must meet specific criteria:

  • Location: Be physically located and operating within Ohio.
  • Industry Focus: Conduct business in one of JobsOhio's ten targeted industries (which generally include sectors like advanced manufacturing, technology, aerospace/aviation, financial services, healthcare, and logistics).
  • New Hire Role: The new hire must be a full-time, W2 employee working in a JobsOhio Priority Occupation (STEM or technical roles).
  • Relocation: The new hire must relocate from out-of-state and establish permanent residency in Ohio.

How to Apply

JobsOhio has created a streamlined process to access this opportunity:

  1. Review Guidelines: Confirm your business and hiring needs align with the eligibility criteria by reviewing the official program guidelines.
  2. Complete Application: Submit the online application. Note: The application must be completed in a single session—it cannot be saved and finished later.
  3. Hire & Relocate: Once approved, recruit and hire eligible out-of-state professionals.
  4. Request Disbursement: Submit documentation proving the new hire has relocated and begun employment.
  5. Receive Funds: Incentive payments are issued to the employer.

Funding for this program is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so companies are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure their position.
